My name is Mrs. Kathy Ylostalo.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Taylor University in Indiana. I am a Texas-certified teacher with over 25 years of experience in Finland, New Orleans, and Central Texas. I specialize in non-traditional learning, focused on a client’s goals, desires, learning styles, and needs. My teaching certifications are EC-8 Generalist, Special Education EC-12, English as a Second Language (ESL/ESOL), and Gifted & Talented (GT/GATE). I am also gifted at finding the root of a client’s academic and life struggles and leading them to a solution. I offer tutoring in all the main subjects of public, private, and homeschool. The best results come when we also include some life coaching basics, to change patterns of thinking and behavior.

Some of my favorite pastimes are spending time with my husband and daughters, hiking outdoors, studying Truth, and discussing curious topics over coffee.

My name is Dr. Christina Baker, PhD.

I have been an educator, tutor, and writer for over 25 years. I have experience teaching adults and children in grades K-12 with an emphasis in Language Arts and Social Studies. I have also been a college instructor for 15 years in California and Texas, as well as online nationally and internationally. I write curriculum in addition to tutoring.

​​I live in Central Texas, but I still have family in California and Tennessee. I can be found working as an adjunct faculty member at UMHB and Temple College, writing books, tutoring students of all ages and abilities, and loving my four cats and my backyard chickens.

My name is Kayte Ricketts.

Hi! I am the Education Coordinator at the Bell County Museum in Belton. My passions are history and reading. I have a Bachelor’s in history, a Master’s in Education, and a Master’s in Public History. I love the connections that can be made in history creating causes and effects that aren’t commonly noticed. I also enjoy making history relatable and interesting rather than focusing solely on facts. This makes the facts more exciting as those connections are created.

I incorporated the Montessori and learning styles theories into my previous years of teaching and my current education programs. I believe that kids learn best when there are a variety of activities that are based on the different learning styles they may possess. I also believe in the freedom to learn in a way that is driven by interest and excitement for a topic/activity.

I love spending time with my husband and family and have a passion for traveling. Reading is my main hobby and I read dozens of books a year. The development of stories and characters is amazing to me. I also enjoy sharing fun history facts and tidbits with my friends and family.

My many years in university teaching and research provide practical expertise to my students. Hi! My name is Serena Ylostalo.

I am an honors student at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, here in Belton. I am really enjoying my Neuroscience Pre-Med courses.

Math comes to life in the sciences, and I love teaching it to others. In addition to high school- and college-level tutoring in math, I am also an amateur line editor/proofreader for a local author, so I offer assistance in proofreading essays and writing assignments. I can also assist you with studying for tests & exams, as well as coach you in organization and note-taking. Need help with dance choreography or cutting music? I do that, too!

Some of my favorite pastimes are dancing with the UMHB dance team, spending time outdoors, singing & playing musical instruments, and reading complex dystopian fiction.

My name is Damion Jensen.

I am a small business owner. My two favorite things are learning and making dreams come true. I pride myself on being able to learn anything and figure out a solution to any problem. So, I decided to start a business that does just that. My hobbies and my work often mesh together. I make music and art as often as I can. I raise chickens, dogs, cats, and children. I like to build things and work on my house. 

I have a heart to help people make their dreams come true. Sometimes, things like technology, advertising, logos, websites, etc, can be a barrier to those dreams, and I enjoy helping people shatter those barriers. I love teaching on an individual basis. I find joy in helping someone learn a new skill and watching their face light up when they succeed.
